The default settings on firefox 3.5.3 (what I have) regarding where it should search for suggestions when You type in something , are such , that it searches the history and the bookmarks. So I have changed my settings, now it only searches in the history and it doesn't freeze anymore. I don't know if that would safisfy Your needs, though it works for me, as I most of the times do not need suggestions from my bookmarks- I mean I would click on a bookmark if I need to surf a bookmarked site.
